What Our Students Say

"More than worth the cost of attending"

I recently attended John’s two day turkey workshop. It was an absolutely mind blowing experience. John is an amazing teacher. His eagerness for his students progress and success is undeniable. His attention to detail and as he calls it “The Real” is stunning. Previously I had mounted a few turkeys that I was not at all happy with. Well his class is more than worth the cost of attending. He leaves no stone unturned. Now I am able to achieve a whole new level of turkey taxidermy. This class is a must for anyone wanting to mount REAL turkeys!!

– Jeremy Bessinger, Three Mile Creek Taxidermy, Ehrhardt, South Carolina

"John was obviously doing something different"

I am an avid turkey hunter, lover of the sport in every aspect. I decided after following Birds only taxidermy on Facebook that I wanted to pursue my passion and learn the art of Turkey taxidermy. I had some help for about six months from a local taxidermist that showed me the basics of how he skinned, prepped, and mounted turkeys, but John was obviously doing something different with his animated poses and feather tracks. I finally decided to spend the money and take a one-on-one class. I certainly did not know that I would get a set of skills in just two days that would equal 20 plus years of experience. John pulled out all the stops. John’s motto: I’m gonna teach you how to throw a strike, but what you do with it is up to you”. This was a spot-on description of what you get for the money. I have so much to learn but I came home, and in one week did my first solo bird. After the first turkey, my work got exponentially better and continues to do so. John is always available for a call or text when I get hung up. Class never ends. He truly wants you to learn this art form. I really can’t say enough about the experience. I highly recommend John Beards class to anyone that is serious about the art of the wild turkey!! – Tom Pittman
